I have held careers in the realms of communications, education, and publishing. I am currently a Communications Specialist with a government contractor supporting the department of Health and Human Services.
I hold a Master's in Applied Linguistics from Columbia University Teachers College. Much of my professional career prior to earning this degree involved English Language Teaching, which I have done internationally. I now have diverse experience in education, research, administration, and publishing/editing. My most important administrative experience was developed during my internship at the United Nations' Language Learning Services Unit, where I was proud to impact language education at offices throughout the U.N. My duties included: drafting documents such as memos and articles; maintaining a shared email address and social media webpage; corresponding professionally with stakeholders and colleagues; taking weekly meeting minutes. Outside of my own team, I developed the English team’s pilot placement test.
My bachelor's degree is in Mass Communication. During my time in undergrad, I was a staff writer and music editor at my university's newspaper. There, I conducted interviews and submitted feature stories at least once a week. I also gained journalistic experience interning at the United Way, City Paper Baltimore, and 98 Rock.
I've continued my journalistic career through music blogging. In addition to this music journalism experience, my proofreading and copyediting skills have been applied professionally as a freelance editor for publishers and vendors such as Learning Mate, Pearson, Second Language Testing, Inc, Booklinks and Cambridge University Press.
